Are you looking to confirm or expand your knowledge of research administration?
The Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation is proof that an individual has the fundamental knowledge necessary to be a professional research or sponsored programs administrator. The certification is good for 5 years and renewable with proof of acceptable continued education. This certification has become recognizable in our field such that most job postings will list it as a preferred or mandatory requirement for consideration.
You must meet specific combinations of education and experience to qualify to apply to sit for the CRA exam. The exam is held during May and November of each year and the current application fee is $385. There is a Body of Knowledge provided as a guide to the content that might be included on the exam and covers the following four areas:
- Project Development and Administration 30%
- Legal Requirements and Sponsor Interface 30%
- Financial Management 25%
- General Management 15%
Because this can be overwhelming and you may not know where to even begin, the Office of Sponsored Programs will be offering study sessions on multiple Friday’s leading up to each of the exams. Check back in January at https://training.osp.gatech.edu/ for the study sessions and to register. If you are unable to attend in person, the training materials can be provided to you upon request. These study sessions are provided at no cost.
We are excited to host a RACC Body of Knowledge Review Session in the spring and will update everyone once the date/location has been confirmed. The review sessions are to validate what you know and help you identify areas you need to improve your knowledge. There is a $225 registration fee for this session.
